Hannah McKeand is an adventurer and polar explorer who in 2006 became the fastest person to trek solo and unsupported to the South Pole.

In March 2008 Hannah,
34, set out to ski solo and unsupported to the North Pole from Canada - an arduous 478 mile trek over shifting ice that's only been successfully completed once before. Hazards include polar bears, swimming open areas of water and negotiating ice ridges while pulling a 120kg sled.

Sadly after two weeks' effort Hannah injured herself falling into an ice hole, and had to be airlifted to safety.

Ascent Marketing Communications provides public relations support for Hannah's expeditions. The North Pole trip gained extensive coverage in the UK media with features in the Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail, plus PA and Reuters-driven news coverage across media web sites from the BBC, CNN and most daily and local titles. Hannah's story was also covered internationally, especially in the Canadian press.
